Mojo Friday - Shower or Tub - Edition
Fri Feb 22, 2008 at 07:32:46 AM PDT
Last year one of our fellow kossack ran a series of demographic diaries. He asked about the different levels of education, where we lived, ethnicity, religion and many more. But what I don't recall him asking is shower or tub.
That's right, do you take a shower or do you fill your tub to take a bath? And there are many other related questions to ask. We'll hit those on the other side.
First some clarification on what we do here. This is meant to be a light-hearted diary where we have fun and gather mojo. The only objects of political humor here are GOPpers. Jokes even if they are not meant to be harsh on a Democrat will probably be taken that way, so;
NO JOKES OR DEROGATORY COMMENTS ABOUT DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES HERE, PLEASE.
Now the other questions related to our topic today. Bar soap or liquid soap? Wash cloth or other? Do you take shower/bath before you go to bed or first thing in the AM? If you take one at night, do you take another in the AM? I had a former business colleague who took his showers at night and didn't take another in the AM, now for some that may be okay but not for him. He was pushing 300lbs and sweated a lot. By noon of the next day he always had an air of sour milk about him. So, think about that all of you night onlt bathers.
Shower or tub? What does it say about you? It isn't generational or at least in my experience. My mom is a tub user and my In-laws are shower takers. My niece on my wife's side takes a shower, longggggg showers. The oldest niece on my side takes baths, longgg baths, she runs more hot water she stays in there so long. She's only January to December older than the other niece. All the other nieces and nephews take showers. My mom is 77, my In-laws are 80 and 82.
So what does it mean? 'Hell if I know. I just thought it would make for some interesting discussion for those that bother to read the diary before they dive in. Heh, have fun
Mojo Friday Guidelines
1. If you comment you have to recommend all comments. (in order to recieve mojo you have to give mojo. It's only good mojo manners.)
2. Everything you say may be taken as a joke (so if you ask a question, expect a silly answer)
3. You must recommend the diary (and pimp it unapologetically)
4. You don't have to comment to recommend.
5. You can't steal my idea (right, like that ain't goin' to happen)
6. Please, no pictures or YouTubes until after 300 comments
7. Mojo mojo mojo mojo, mojo mojo mojo
Mojo Friday Goals
A. at least 200 different commenters and 1000 comments by 1:30 PM EST and 1500 by 5:00 PM EST Friday Night that it's posted.
B. 100 recommends for each comment, at least.
C. Stay on Recommend List at least five hours (this requires some strategic planning by you guys, refer to guideline #3)
D. And always, fun fun fun.
E. Have at least 75% average participation rate as seen here in the Mojo Friday Postgame Show by goffnews.
F. (New) Have at least 30 kossacks over 90% participation (see here for some tips).
G. Overload the servers with recommends, not to mention dominate Top Comments Mojo list. (we do tend to mess with the site with all of our recommends at one time)(also, to dominate the Top Comments Top Mojo we need at least 50 comments with over 100 recommends, see guideline B)
H. That's enough for now. (Have a suggestion? Post it.
MKinTN posted a diary last week to help everyone achieve greater success called How to Succeed at Mojo Friday Without Really Trying
Remember; Support the Troops, Buy Mojo Friday Apparel, proceeds got to support Ninepatch and her endeavors. Some of you have yet to purchase your Tees or mugs etc., what are you waiting for?
Another housekeeping note. For those of you who check in on the postgame show neither goffnews nor I will be in the ranking anymore. We have Mojomatic and that would give us an unfair advantage. Goffnews has it because he wrote the program. I have it because I have an obligation to recommend every comment and lately I have been missing too many.
One more quick note. I had lunch with OPOL this week and he thought MF had been around for two years. Thank you guys for making us an instituion here at Daily Kos. And while we handing out thanks, thanks to whoever put us in dailykos' FAQ Ongoing Diary Series.
MFTSU - Mojo Friday Troop Support Update!
Oooo... an acronum MFTSU - Mojo Friday Troop Support Update! OK, so maybe I've been alone with 2 cats and a quilt top that grows in the dark when I'm not looking for too long.
11 days and counting until the primary here in Ohio –I am so ready for it. I hope the turnout for early voting in Texas is an indicator of what’s waiting for us up here in the infamous Cuyahoga County. I wish I could remember whose sigline it was, but "the Constitution does not guarantee us a good government, nor a fair government – the Constitution guarantees us only a representative government" is a hell of an opening line when I do my little personal GOTV effort. It sure gets people’s attention, and usually one of those "aha!" kind of moments. In between phone calls, the work on the ever-growing quilt top continues – please, please, PTB, let me have it off the worktable by Sunday!
I’ve finished laundering the bolt of fabric for cool ties (twice actually), and have it pressed and ready to be cut. It will be cut it into strips that are 4 ½" X 42" (the width of the fabric) then each is sewn it into a tube to get things started. It’s not a complicated process, but, then again, the pattern was designed by a group of enterprising military Moms in the opening days of the war – they made sure anyone who could sew a straight line could join in the effort. Cool ties have been available for years in sporting goods stores, at about $12-$15 each. Obviously, this wasn’t going to work, so some really dedicated Moms designed their own pattern and we can make them for about $0.60 each (when I catch the fabric on sale, which isn’t hard at all.) The online vendor I purchase the polymer crystals from doesn’t charge shipping, which leaves more money for more ties. I’ll start sending those off by the end of March, so if anyone knows of some troops who’d like to have cool ties, e-mail me and I’ll get them squared away.
Also, if anyone has a scout troop or other group who'd be interested in a troop support project, please let me know. Seriously, cool ties are very easy to make and would be a great activity for a group of Scouts or seniors, and, as I said above, for
about $55 you can make 125-150 cool ties.
Good news – SoldierBoy informs me that his group is expected to deploy home in the next 90 days, or so. It will be great to have him back stateside and I’m sure he’ll make his way over to Dkos when he’s settled in and full of home cooking and a lot of love from his family and friends.
I’ll update you again next week. In the meantime, I want you to know that I am constantly amazed and humbled by the Mojo Friday community. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for your generosity and creativity.
Peace.
